Bad Domain

Let's say you want to start a mobile phone "ringtones" website, and you want to stress in your name that the site distributes ringtones based on hit songs. Ringtones and hits... you choose the obvious domain name and -- lo and behold -- it's not taken! So you register it...

Found in the World Wide Worlds newsletter.

They also mentioned an Italian battery company that specializes in power generation. Power Generation... "PowerGen" but you have to let people know it's italian. "powergen" + "italia"?

Because I'm tired, I glanced at this blog entry quickly and thought "ringtoneshits" was "ringtone shits" and wondered why someone would want their phone ring tone to sound like someone pinching a loaf. I see now it is actually "ringtones hits."

I need sleep. Now. Unfortunately, I'm at work, and sleeping in the office is generally frowned upon.

This isn't as humorous, but I only this morning realized as I compiled the current version of Gnus (the Emacs newsreader/mailer) that the "gnushack" arguments that flit by are "gnus hack." I had always seen "Gnu Shack," like maybe a Radio Shack for free software. Or a rest stop for herd animals.
