Pretty Storm

Jim C thinks these pictures of Hurricane Isabel (one which may or may not be) are cool and that you should see them. He's probably right, so I post the links for your viewing pleasure.

OK, so even I am pimping this storm for the sake of my blog. But not really - I just think the images are amazing. Don't expect me to stand out in the wind with a rain slicker and tell you that, yes, it is raining out there. Every 5 minutes. I promise.

I think the "unverified pic" is a fake. Don't you think we'd see a bit more ocean activity if it were real? The sea, in that pic, is relatively calm.

It's a good point. However:

1) The seas are not completely calm in the picture.
2) There is not much in the picture to provide a scale for the size of those waves.
3) The depth can have an effect on wave size, and we don't know what the depth is, or what the winds were in the picture.
4) I looked for obvious signs of tamering with the photo and didn't find any. Doesn't mean tampering didn't happen, but if it did, It was a halfway decent job.

Maybe we'll get a decent answer once the folks at snopes are done researching it:
