Air America Begins

Today “Air America” begins. I’ll be listening via the internet if I can get a connection. No liberal radio over the airwaves where I live, unfortunately.

Looks like the website has been Slashdotted. Not surprising considering the political leanings of the percentage of the population technically inclined to do a lot of web surfing.

I do hope they took this webhosting/webcasting thing seriously.

Oops, wrong link. This is the correct one: They start audio streaming at noon.

Wah! No stations in MA! I was hoping to tell my mother where to direct her dial. She often wakes up in the middle of the night and ends up turning on AM, which aggravates her. I can't wait for this new venue to open up, for her sake as well as mine.

I'm listening right now. A commercial for autozone, followed by 60 seconds of dead silence... sounds like they're still working out the kinks.

That dead silence is unfortunate, I agree. It sounds like they're doing what other streaming stations do, blocking local commercials for which they have no rights to broadcast worldwide. Eventually they'll set things up to automatically broadcast some filler for internet listeners, probably asking for donations or plugging programs with clips.

Mike, someone in my office has just reached the same conclusion. I think I've just got to be patient and keep on listening through the void.

I'm listening to Randy Rhodes, and she is the best! She just compared the Bush family to the Corleones. "They're no different." "They're a dynasty."

I have got to stop laughing so loudly!

I am _really_ enjoying this. I've waited a l o n g time for a counter punch to the wingnuts. The gloves are off and I'm loving it.

I tried to listen yesterday and today but there are too many streaming problems. Generally I can listen for a minute or two then my connection drops. Bleh.

I thought I saw something the other day about becoming an AirAmerica member or somesuch. I'd totally pay $5 a month or so to support the efforts if it meant I could actually listen to them.
