Questions I'd Ask

If I were conducting a debate between the presidential candidates, here are a few of the questions I’d ask. And I’d give them time to answer.

  • What role does diplomacy play in a world with a larger and less centralized terrorist threat?
  • Is the only effective “preemption” of terrorism military action? What control, if any, do we have on the growth of terrorist organizations and how would you apply that knowledge to reduce the threat of terrorist attacks?
  • What, if any, is the relationship between our reliance on fossil fuels and global terrorism?
  • What do you see as the biggest threat to any given individual American: terrorism, unemployment, health care difficulties, or some other threat?
  • Under what circumstances do you think the government should override a citizen’s control over his or her own physical body? In the future should we move toward the government having more control over a citizen’s body, or less control?
