Grammar God?

Grammar God!
You are a GRAMMAR GOD!

If your mission in life is not already to
preserve the English tongue, it should be.
Congratulations and thank you!

How grammatically sound are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

Patti sent this quiz along. I was fairly confident of my answers, but I am a bit surprised I got “Grammar God.” I would have liked it better if I could have seen which answers I got wrong and which I got right. I don’t imagine I got every one correct. Pattie, of course, came up as a God as well. But among my friends, I tend to thing of myself as a low-end grammarian.

[Added: Even when I know the rules, I sometimes willfully break them out of laziness. But, thanks to a high school teacher known only as “Mr. Newton,” I have a basic command of the written word. I have a feeling this quiz is a little too generous.]

Apparently, I, too, am a Grammar God. I wonder if there are any other possible results. ;)

Send the quiz to Dan Quayle and you'll know soon enough.

You could also send it to Our Fearless Nabob of Ignorance if you wanted to see the results of grammar put through the meat grinder.

The test claims to have other outcomes.

I really wanted to know the answers. I'm _extremely_ doubtful that I got them all correct.

Yes, Virginia, there are other outcomes. I put in all wrong answers and received this:

You are an AVERAGE speaker of English.

Not much more to say about you...

If you go here (http://quizilla.com/cgi-bin/result/list/list.pl), you'll see the list of all possibilities, replete with pictures!

I came out as a "MASTER" of english on my first stab... I feel so ineffectual. :(

Well, James, it appears there are other outcomes. You, Patti, and I are deities of the English language. Maybe we should form a pantheon and get worshippers. ;-)

The Unworthy may pray to us and leave offerings at the Temple of the Dangling Modifier.

I sometimes send Boston.com corrections (grammar and/or spelling), but to my surprise, I actually had to send a correction to the BBC!

They had put up a map showing current conflicts around the world, and the title of the segment was "Who's Fighting Who?" Wrong! Who's fighting whom!

I was surprised that the BBE would make such a mistake.

Grammar goddess correction. I'm sure you meant BBC.

You are correct and I am duly chastened.
