Goodbye, Julia

TV Cooking Show Host Julia Child Dies

I’m very sad to see her go. She was an original, a great teacher via television and I loved her subtle wit. I also enjoyed it when she teamed up with Jaques Pepin.

Thank you, Julia Child.

I used to read Dear Abby when I was an impressionable young person. One day (over 20 years ago I'm sure) there was a letter from Julia Child explaining why she supported abortion rights. It was quite a letter.

I had not formed much of an opinion on the matter yet because so few people were willing to really discuss it publicly much beyond "it's WRONG" and "it's MY CHOICE." Julia was not so timid.

Unfortunately, after an admittedly brief and somewhat distraught and disorganized search, I can't find it online yet. But I will. :)

She died three days shy of her 92nd birthday! I should live so long and be so productive!

I've always meant to get one of her cookbooks, and after reading a review, I'm on the hunt for Mastering the Art of French Cooking: Vols. 1 & 2.

when i was a kid (7 or 8) me and my friend Charleen would only watch a few shows on a consistent basis: Today's Special (manequins that come alive!), He-Man, Whammy! (greatest game-show ever) and Julia Child. I don't know why but we loved to watch her cook, I can only assume it's 'cause everything she made looked so tasty. I guess she kinda reminded us of our grammies, she was cool. We shall miss her crazy cooking antics
