Name That Movie 2

Here we go again. Popular last week, might as well do it again this week!

This is a screenshot from a movie. Can you figure out the movie from the picture? If I don’t see a correct answer before 11 AM, I’ll post a second picture. A third picture will come at 1:30 PM if no one has gotten it by then. A fourth picture at 4 PM, if needed. This beats anything having to do with the Republican National Confusion. This first picture is definitely easier than last week. But how much easier?

Buckaroo Banzai?

Posted by: Chuck S. at August 31, 2004 3:55 AM

It looks familiar butI can't place it. I don't think it's buckaroo Banzai though. One of the Star Treks?

Posted by: Bob at August 31, 2004 8:29 AM

I was right. This one is a lot easier than last week.

Buckaroo Banzai it is!

You guys made mincemeat out of today's "Name That Movie!"

In my defense, you guys are smarter than the average bear, and apparently have an unuaully developed visual memory.

The overthruster is a visually distinctive item.

I have to say, with all the sequins, I immediately thought of the Star Trek movie with Ricardo Mantalban.

Damn. I was wrong!

Laugh while you can, monkey boy!

Damn! I never saw Buckaroo Banzai.

There were sequins in the original Star Trek series, but the gizmo isn't cheezy enough to be from that. I don't remember significant sequins in the later series or movies though. I specifically recall that everyone in the Wrath of Khan was grungy and grumpy and not wearing festive clothing.

C'mon, it's still early, how about another Name That Movie?

Never saw Buckaroo Banzai! You must add it to your list of movies to see right now.

Remember,no matter where you go. There you are.

RE: sequins... remember, Buckaroo Banzai was a rock star... he tended to hang around with some flamboyant characters.

Yoyodyne Corporation--The Future Begins Tomorrow...

Where are we going? PLANET TEN! When are we gonna get there? REAL SOON!

These guys will never make it into the eighth dimension if they can't even connect the dots.

Silence John Big Bootie, you are the weakest individual I know!

It's Big Bootay! TAY TAY TAY!!

I don't recall sequins, but I do recall Adam Ant-like outfits.

That poor bastard has gone round the bend, by the way.

When I saw pictures of him and how old he looked, I felt old.

I like this feature a lot, James, though I'm not very good at guessing the movies. I'm more audio oriented that visual. Maybe you could post lyrics to a song or a bit of dialogue from a movie for people like me? In any case, keep up the good work!

Posted by: Jade at August 31, 2004 2:38 PM

A bit of a song or dialogue? That's not a bad idea. We'll have to go the auditory route one of these days.

Thanks for the suggestion Jade.

btw, for those interested, here are links to what would have been the second, third and fourth images in the contest.

Since they're not going to be displayed on the weblog, I will probably take them down to conserve space in a few days. So those links will not be valid for long.

I definately would have had it on the 2nd image. Now you've got me wanting to see the movie again. I might have to go home and fire up the dvd.

Posted by: Bob at August 31, 2004 4:31 PM

By the way Julie (or anyone else) I just realized I have both the dvd and the video. If anyone wants the video it's theirs.

Posted by: Bob at August 31, 2004 4:33 PM

Believe it or not, I may actually have it on VHS, along with a bunch of other cult favorites I bought from a coworker a year ago and haven't watched yet.

I'm not sure if I have BB or not. I know I have Plan Nine From Outer Space, but I'm saving that one for an emergency. :-)
