Name That Movie 8

Take a shot at this new Name That Movie. Guess away. Same plan as before. If I feel the game is up and there is consensus on the answer, I’ll confirm. Otherwise, I’ll soon provide a second clue.

Here is the second image:

Yeesh. I WANT to say Monty Python's Holy Grail but I don't recall that image and it's probably too obvious anyway. Knight's Tale? Didn't see it but worth a guess.

I'm going to make two completely off the wall guesses: Princess Bride and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Need more pictures!!!

I certainly don't recall that image from Princess Bride, although it could be when Buttercup is first introduced to the people.

I wish it were Ladyhawke.

Next image at noon. :)

Too goofy for A Knight's Tale, which is goofy in its own way, even though its makers would disagree.

I have to go with "The Princess Bride." God I love that movie.

I have no idea!

Anyone want to change his/her guess based on the second image?

Posted by: James at October 12, 2004 12:10 PM

Ok, now I KNOW it's "The Princess Bride."

Hey, it's Hardball, one of my favorite Commodore 64 games.

No idea about the movie. Based on the first image my guess was Men in Tights but that went out the window with the second image.

Yes, that is definitely Princess Bride.

The first scene is from the castle courtyard in Florin where the Prince Humperdink speaks to the people, possibly when he introduces Buttercup.

The second scene is at the very beginning of the movie where the child who has the Princess Bride read to him is sick in bed, and playing baseball on his video game console.

Bingo, folks.

It is, indeed, "The Princess Bride"

It was tough to find images fromt he film that I didn't think peolpe would get right away (except for some with absolutely no significance). But I wanted to do "Princess Bride" because it is such a favorite.

Yes 2nd image definately pegged it as Princess Bride.

Bollix. Late to the party again. I, too, got Princess Bride from the second image. Bob and I are somewhat familiar with that movie. That was the unofficial apartment movie during my junior year and his senior year in our apartment. At a minimum, I'd say it got played once a week.

Yes, in between showings of the Rush Show of Hands tape.

Posted by: B.O.B.(bob) at October 12, 2004 4:12 PM

Do you know it wasn't until I lived with Bob that I actually got to see the entire "Show of Hands" tape?

Posted by: Patti M. at October 13, 2004 12:06 PM

Ugh, this is my busiest time of year so I missed out on the second clue, which, yeah, definitely nailed it instantly as The Princess Bride.

When I was in high school I made all my friends watch A Show of Hands and Twelve Wasted Years every time they came over.

Which is probably why none of them came over.

Posted by: David Grenier at October 15, 2004 12:04 PM

Don't think I've ever seen "Show of Hands."

Posted by: James at October 15, 2004 12:35 PM

James,

It's just a concert video, from the "Hold Your Fire" tour (my first concert, ever!).

The thing is, Rush are amazing musicians (for a rock band) but they are boring as fuck to watch in concert. Concert videos in general are pretty boring, but this is like a band made up of Al Gore, John Kerry, and the Tin Man. They barely move at all. The only thing that made it different than sitting listening to a record and looking at a still photo was the occasional animations they would play.

Posted by: David Grenier at October 15, 2004 11:25 PM

Thanks for the explanation! Now I'm baffled as to why it was playing so often in B.O.B's and Brian's apartment.
