Name That Movie 10

Movie Guess Image 1

Sorry for the poor quality of the images this week. I couldn’t use the computer for screencaps. For reasons that may or may not become clear, I had to make the images somewhat challenging. You won’t come close to getting this if you haven’t seen the movie. Second clue at Noon EST to give any early-bird west-coasters a shot if they’re checking the blog first thing in the morning.

Second clue:

Hmmmm. A rug. A rug which looks a lot like the rug that was on the floor of your front living room. Is this a home movie?

If not, I'll make a wild guess that it is "The Money Pit" with Tom Hanks and the lovely Shelly Long. That's a movie in which a rug plays a fairly prominent part.

Wow, Chuck, you're good. I wouldn't have remembered the rug in his house.

I'm stumped and waiting for noon to come around...

Aha. Chuck knows that I wouldn't put a picture of a rug up there if it weren't significant.

Man, that rug really tied the room together.

Oh, it's the movie with Ben Stiller and what's-her-name from "Friends." Wait for it...Along Came Polly.

Looked dumb, so I didn't see it.

Nice marmot.

Something tells me I didn't see this.

New clue is up there. But somebody already knew what it was.

Posted by: James at October 26, 2004 12:18 PM

I will say: this movie does not have Ben Stiller in it.

Posted by: James at October 26, 2004 12:20 PM

I've got it. It's The Battle of Midway!

Posted by: David Grenier at October 26, 2004 12:29 PM

David is teasing.

Posted by: James at October 26, 2004 12:31 PM

Big Lebowski.

you're out of your element, Donnie!

Posted by: jeremy at October 26, 2004 12:36 PM

that rug really tied the room together.

Posted by: jeremy at October 26, 2004 12:40 PM

I never saw Big Lebowski, and Im certain I never saw this film. The onbly film I've ever seen with ferrets in it was Beastmaster with Tanya Roberts.

Posted by: Chuck S. at October 26, 2004 1:20 PM

Beastmaster? Wow. That's a while back. That makes me think of Heavy Metal (the mag) and all that "art" by Frazetta...

Posted by: Patti M. at October 26, 2004 2:12 PM

Big Lebowski? I did see it and can't say I recall either image.

For those still uncertain, the final image is up there.

The reason I had to be careful is because I know this is a favorite of David's (from having read his weblog). It is, indeed "The Big Lebowski."

David knows the movie so well, he got it right at the rug, which figures in the plot of the film.

Seriously: if you like the Coen Brothers and you like goofy movies, you have to see "The Big Lebowski." There are many great movie moments in there, which is why so many consider it a classic.

Chuck - see this movie. It's a goof.

Anyone want to help B.O.B. with the scenes in question?

Posted by: James at October 26, 2004 3:11 PM

The first shot is the rug, not the original rug that gets stolen (the one that tied the room together) but the one that The Dude gets from The Big Lebowski - even though it was a gift from Maude to her late mother and wasn't his to give.

The second is when the nihilists break into The Dude's home and throw the ferret in his bathtub with him, threatening to cut off his johnson.

The final one is the dream sequence The Dude has after Maude's goons knock him out to take back the rug.

I obviously need to see this movie again. The last image i do recognize.
