Powell Said To Be Leaving Administration

Sources close to the administration say that Powell and three other Cabinet members have submitted their resignations from the Bush Administration.

When asked to confirm this information, queries were met with the comical, if clichéd, chirping of crickets.

I'm just curious, do this many rats usually desert the sinking ship? I didn't pay much attention to that before, but it's kind of fun to watch everyone bail from the Bush administration.

unfortunately (or fortunately) yes they do. Clinton lost at least as many. 8 years is a long time to walk around with a target on your back. Most sane people aren't interested in doing it.

I still think that, over time, a lot of peopel have found it difficult to live in Bushworld, having gotten too used to the real world. Many have gone the way of Christie Todd Whitman. It just took others longer.

It's sad to see the people with sense go, though. You know they will be replaced with reactionary idealogues...

... or yes-men / women like Condi Rice, who at this point has neither conscience nor credibility.

But she's black. Therefore, this administration values diversity. We're going to have a Hispanic AG, so they are clearly the minority friendly party. Grrrrr.

My most vivid memory of Rice from the last four years was when she testified before the 9/11 Commission. I quote: "I believe the title was, 'Bin Laden Determined to Attack Inside the United States.'"

I thought for sure her career was finished. After all, she had just made herself and the entire Bush administration look even more like the bunch of incompetent bozos that they are.

So, naturally, they promoted her.
