The Bloggies Are Coming. Look Busy.

Yes, it’s that time again. Nominations are open for the 2005 “Bloggies” — that is, the 2005 weblog awards!

For those of you who don’t have your own weblog, let me explain what this means to a blogger who takes any amount of time out of his busy life to work on his weblog. There are a number of stages you go through when thinking about the Bloggies. Here they are:

Denial: I don’t care about the Bloggies. Even if I got a nomination, I still wouldn’t care.
Amazement: Wow. Look at these categories. I have no chance in any of these!
Insecurity: Would I even qualify for “Best American Blog”? Can you criticize the president and still be considered for that category?
Anger: F*&% the Bloggies!
Fear: Holy crap. I hope no one who might nominate me for anything heard that and was turned off. I’m doomed!
Whining: Why isn’t there a “Best Aimless Lebanese-Irish Southern New England Blog with a Poker Reference in the Title” category? These categories suck.
Depression: If I were a reader of my own blog, would I even nominate it for anything? Probably not. I have no idea what my blog is about, why should anyone else. Lousy crap for crap.
Resignation: I have as much chance of winning “Best Asian Blog” as I do of getting even a nomination in any of these other categories. Might as well face it.

Why do I have a weblog? Why do I spend time on it? What is my weblog about?

I have no freakin’ idea. Maybe I’ll have my own freakin’ Bloggies.

I showed you some love on my nominations. I listed you three times for "Best Aimless Lebanese-Irish Southern New England Blog with a Poker Reference in the Title" and went a little crazy from there.

You'd think I would be a lock for that award, but it turns out that Ramblin' Samir's Royal Flush Pub has quite a following. I refuse to link to it for fear of having him siphon off my readership.

I think I nominated you for "Best Blog With Someone's Hand Up Inside Of It" but it may have been another category. I was quite drunk at the time.

Funny, they have a best Non-blog content, but they don't have a "Best nonsense blog content."
