PVI Shotgun

One of the links below explains what “PVI” is.

Thanks to BobMcC, Sara, Patti, and others for the links.

Fart farty fart. Did you see Colbert last night? I think I heard a familiar voice.

Sex before stressful events - I remember someone who used to work for ACS telling me that someone else who worked for ACS drunkenly admitted to him that he masturbated before *every class* to relieve stress. He was unable to find a girlfriend due to being creepy.

Judging from the giggles I'm hearing elsewhere in the office, I'd say some of my coworkers have clicked the link I just sent them for Dwight's blog.

BTW, I've always heard it referred to as PiV (where the i stands for "in".)

I'm surprised at David Cross. Why bother to even deride the goon? Oh, I get it. Irony. I also get that Larry's audience doesn't know how to spell or define "irony." If imaginary class warfare among caricatures about linguistic and cultural differences is what's funny now, I'm going back to pie-fights. I don't need some foulmouthed knuckledragger succeeding in any way by normalizing the freakdom of "I'm ig-no-rihn and stayin dis way cuz it's bettah to be proud than right." David and the rest of us should just ignore the jerk.

It wasn't a complete waste of time. Prior to this, I had assumed that LarryTCG's foulmouthed knuckledragging humor was at least coming from an honest place. I didn't realize that he was actually the Vanilla Ice of "blue-collar" comedy. He pretends to get all indignant about David Cross making fun of his precious sincere fans, when in fact it is LARRY who is co-opting and exploiting redneck culture and making a buttload of money in the process. Also, I think I laughed at some point while reading the essay. Thanks, David!

(BTW - forgot to thank Derek for that David Cross link)

About the David Cross article. Cross made an offhand comment which was printed by Rolling stone and Larry decided to make a big deal about it. So this is his response. I don't think Cross is going to build an act around it or anything -- I think this is just his reaction.

It would be tough for me to ignore Larry the Cable Guy any mroe than I already do. But this will at least give me something to laugh about hwen I do happen to be confronted with the image of or mention of Larry. And, as Julie points out, he's dishonest.

In fact, dishonestly insulting. "I'm one of you idiots. But we're good idiots." What could be more insulting than that sort of lie?

But hey, it's showbiz anyhow.

I only missed one on the "Earl" quiz, though there were a couple I guessed on (like who the first person he crossed off his list) based on inferences from later episodes.

I've already put season 1 on my netflix queue, and I would totally use iTunes if I could watch Earl with it.
