Pure Air Popped Carbs

Dying to see pictures of an ancient air popper I inherited from my parents? Of course you are.

Click the picture for the beginning of the series of pictures highlighting this flashback from my childhood. It’s slightly time-ravaged and heat-yellowed and loud-as-heck. But it makes delicious popcorn.

(OK - air popped popcorn is really dry compared to other popcorn, but it’s a lot lower in calories.)

Maybe if you misted the popcorn with a little olive oil spray, the salt would stick...

It's actually not bad for you. I like the olive oil *mist* idea. Throw in some spices of any kind actually. Many diabetics use a small amount of air-popped corn to feed their bodies some carbs before bed to keep glucose levels even.

Popcorn is whole grain goodness. I agree, George, popcorn can be a healthy snack. Not so much at the theatre where they put a lot of trans fat and saturated far all over it.

I hadn't thought to spray it with olive oil, and I will be stealing that suggestion.

I'm lucky enough not to have to worry about diabetes, but everyone probably ought to pay some attention to their balance of carbs/protein/fat. It's nice to get a healthy mix.

I celebrate the wonder that is popcorn.
