Seldom Asked Shotgun

  • 3LINES - Puzzle game of tiles (games, puzzles, flash)
    • Fun clickling clear-the-board puzzle. I was able to complete the levels without backtracking, but my time was horrible because I was AFK for part of it.
  • “Dear Cell Phone User” Cards (activism, humor, prank, cellphones, technology)
    • No doubt you've had occasion to use one of these whenever someone is loudly sharing their cellphone conversation with you in public. Against your will.
  • Disabled bay painted around car - BBC (government, wtf, news)
    • News story highlighting the case of a woman who went in to a shop and while she was occupied a handicapped space was painted around her car. Then she was ticketed.
  • Japanese SAQ (japanese, reference, trivia, weird, faq)
    • Seldom asked quesitons about Japanese culture.
  • Flash » Animator vs. Animation (animation, cartoon, humor, funny, flash)
    • A hapless animated character fights for survival in this amusing flash animation.
  • MC Plus+ (geek, humor, mp3, music, funny)
    • It’s programmer/rapper MC Plus+ coming at you with his album “Algorhythms.”

The "Dear Cell Phone User" cards trouble me. While no one would deny that cellphones can be annoying and inflicting a loud conversation on others is rude, I don't think it would be 'polite' to hand someone one of those cards. In fact, it would be a classic example of 'two wrongs' which do not make a 'right'. I think it might even be argued that the card would be ruder than the 'phonecall.

I wouldn't hand them out, but I thought they were amusing.

Instead, I just pretend to be really interested in the person's conversation. :D Usually, they quiet down or go away, and I didn't even have to interrupt their conversation.

I think the cards are really funny. I guess it would depend on the person whether I'd use them or not. :)

I loved the game and the SAQ. I bookmarked the SAQ at work to finish on a lunch hour. As for the game... well, I love a couple of other games just a little bit more, so no harm done. :)

You're right, James, the cards were funny. I suppose I sound like a humourless old sack - it's just that there seems to be such an erosion of civility these days. I think your solution - feigned interest - is perfect.
