The "announcement" appears to be a friends-only Myspace page.

Only kidding. But I still feel old. I should dig up some badly formed HTML from 1997 and create my own profile.
Posted by: Mike L. at July 10, 2006 1:42 PMI'm a little suspicious that MySpace has been in the news nearly every day since the first day I ever heard of it, back when Jacob Robida went on his gay bar rampage last spring.
I'm sure MySpace is just the greatest thing since pie, or the crappiest thing since diarrhea, or whatever (I don't actually *read* these news stories), but I question whether it is truly so newsworthy. Or perhaps it is being scapegoated as a microcosm of the Internet - a weird shift from when the Internet was blamed for everything. Now only MySpace is blamed for everything. :)
Posted by: Julie at July 10, 2006 2:51 PMIt's being scapegoated, like when the Internet was blamed for everything.
However, mySpace is still pretty crappy. It's a mess of bad website design. And it's fun to ridicule the kind of stuff that you see if you hang around mySpace at all. But none of that warrants it being in the news so often.
