Stem Cell Skewering

I don’t usually post Daily Show videos here, because Jon Stewart and his writers are so much funnier than I am that it’s embarrassing.

But I had to post this. Jon Stewart sums up the Stem Cell Veto and Bush’s culture of life.

Watch it with, then go hug some, undifferentiated cells.

I have wondered myself whether Jenna and Barbara Bush might have been the result of IVF. They're fraternal twins, born after the Bushes experienced fertility difficulties.

The first IVF baby was born four years earlier in England.

It's possible that some of the frozen embryos might be his....

This would also explain why he supports IVF even though he doesn't support stem-cell research.

We watched this just before we left yesterday. Jon Stewart is a riot. Thanks for making us laugh before getting on the road! :-)

"I would say 30,000 more or less..."

Less precious, no doubt.

What a maroon Bush is!

Bush promotes a culture of death while pretending to promote a culture of life and people fall for it, sadly. Wish this video could get a wider audience. This is Stewart at his absolute best. It's not simply clever line s- it's extremely good editing that involves a lot of work finding the clips you need. of course, Bush does all he can to help ;-)

This might be completely off-topic but I joked to James that the reason the "W" bumper sticker is so popular is because Bush supporters are largely illiterate.

That's a lead-in for my observation, which is that people respond to clever phrasing more than a clever idea. Clever phrasing can be used to mask the most idiotic notions, such as "guns don't kill people; people kill people." An NRA supporter actually said that to me about a month ago, and I pointed out that it's hard to mow down an entire Wendy's with your bare hands or a steak knife, no matter how much, as a person, you might want to. (Even harder with a spork. But that would be mowing down a KFC.)

I get so frustrated by the marketing that has gone on in this administration. People, dumb and smarter, eat it up and regurgitate it back. I have always thought that a clever phrasing gave the impression of having thought deeply about something without going through the trouble of the actual thinking.
