5 Years of Aces

My readership drops dramatically over the weekend, so I'm announcing this today.

Tomorrow, the 13th of January, marks the 5th Anniversary of the creation of this blog, Aces Full of Links.

I can't believe 5 years have gone by so quickly.

Today is also my wedding anniversary, so Happy Anniversary, Maggie!

And Happy Birthday to this blog.

Woo Hoo!

Happy Anniversary James and Maggie! And congrats on Aces' fifth year, Jimbo.

BTW - You're in my bloglines, and I read you whenever you post, even over the weekend. ;-)

Congratulations to you, Maggie, and the blog!

That is one stunning cake, James. You must've been up all night baking.

Wow, 5 years? It seems like only yesterday I was angrily sharing with you the NYT refusal to put Tolkien on the best sellers list (see http://drmomentum.com/aces/archives/000537.html).

Thanks for hosting a forum where we can all share our thoughts. I still say the best thread ever was "12 Reasons Against Gay Marriage." Speaking of which, you are no longer the number one Google site result for that phrase search; it's held by the creators of the piece, the University of Florida's Gay-Straigt Aliance (http://grove.ufl.edu/~ggsa/gaymarriage.html).

And happy anniversary to you and Maggie!

It was a few minutes of a Flickr search. :)

I was up late last night making pizza dough, though. Julie will be helping to taste-test that dough tomorrow.

Posted by: James at January 12, 2007 3:17 PM

Gosh, it's awfully nice of Julie to volunteer to taste-test dough.

Couldn't you cook at least it for her?

Posted by: Patti M. at January 12, 2007 3:22 PM

I'll leave that up to Julie.

Posted by: James at January 12, 2007 3:28 PM

Tell you what. I'll put the thing in the oven myself. :-) (I need a new peel, so this would be my chance to steal one.)

Congrats to you and Maggie! What is it, sixteen years now? Congrats on the blog as well. This is a great place in Cyberspace to talk about problems with NetFlix and missing DVDs.

Posted by: briwei at January 12, 2007 4:22 PM

Yep - 16 years.

And she still throws clocks at me now and again. So, the fire is alive.

Posted by: James at January 12, 2007 4:27 PM

Congratulations on both anniversaries!

Never going to forget the clock-tossing thing are you? You guys and your fights.

Well better hot than cold I suppose. Be sure to celebrate today and have a nice time. We'll be thinking of you! :-)

First and foremost ... Happy Anniversary to you and Maggie! What a wonderful couple you are ... with such a terrific family. You guys live a life that many just dream about. :)

As for Aces ... this blog rocks brother. I know I'm a newcomer ... but your analysis and insight into the issue of the day are extremely valuable ... and there isn't a day that goes by that I go onto the air before checking to see what you and your crew think about particular subjects. Plus it's given me the opportunity to build a friendship with you and your family -- online and off -- something that I value greatly. Thanks for all you do! :)

Thank you too, Keri. You roolz!

Posted by: Julie at January 13, 2007 1:35 PM

Thanks for the kind words!

I feel my blog is hit-and-miss at best, especially when I've been busy. But it's a wonderful thing to have a place to write (and vent) what's on my mind, and even better than it helps me keep in contact with far-flung and busy friends.
