In search of a new drinks using pomegranate. I have concocted the Blood Melon.
Stir in a tall glass. Add 2 ice cubes. It’s blood red.
The one I made is caramel-ish, slightly melony.
More work needed.

Maybe the mellow flavor of the Midori is clashing with the sharp taste of the pom juice. That would be my guess. Depending on how sharp/mellow the Stoli is (I don't know) you could maybe adjust the amount of pom or Midori accordingly.
For a less mellow melon flavor, you could try a watermelon soda instead of midori. The only brand I know is Los Jarritos (at Shaw's) and it's not cheap, because it's imported.
Or, instead of Midori, there might be a sharper-flavored watermelon liquer under the Pucker brand.

Posted by: Julie at May 23, 2007 1:27 PMEventually I would like to get a heavily pomegranate flavored drink. This is one experiment on the way there. I thought people might like to try it and give me their impressions, if they ever happen to have the ingredients hanging around.
Posted by: James at May 23, 2007 2:19 PMI don't have any of them. But I do have some pom/cranberry juice that I'm totally in love with.
Posted by: Julie at May 23, 2007 2:49 PMOr maybe grape vodka instead of strawberry. Or did you already try grape vodka in pomegranate juice?
I'm just not a fan of grape flavoring in drinks. I like real grape juice. But I wouldn't buy a bottle of grape-flavored any-kind-of liquor. Cousin Bob bought this "Shakka" stuff once that wasn't too bad, but it mainly tastes like alcoholic grape soda.
I don't know why, but I guess I don't like alcohol and grape soda.
