The Marriages Will Continue Until Morale Improves
A proposed constitutional ban on same-sex marriage was defeated today by a joint session of the Legislature by a vote of 45 to 151, eliminating any chance of getting it on the ballot in November 2008. How delicious it is to win.
I love the nonsensical sour grapes statement made by Chris Mineau of the Massachusetts Family Institue (I love these hard-to-discern pressure group names that sound like they're helpful but are usually the opposite of what they seem):
Kris Mineau, president of the Massachusetts Family Institute that backed the amendment, pledged to continue fighting, but wouldn't commit to presenting another proposed amendment.
"I don't believe it's dead because the people have not had the opportunity to have their vote," Mineau told the Associated Press. "This will not go away until the citizens have their opportunity to decide what the definition of marriage is."
No, honey, you just won't have an opportunity to enshrine in the constitution the blatant hatred of and discrimination against gays.

A person (like Chris Mineau) becomes so agitated and unable to vent--stuttering in his speech and frothing--that he will
Excellent title on this one :)
Good news for a change. Thanks James for staying on top of this.
I just don't understand why people are fighting so hard to be miserable, lol. I've been married....it's better to date....I have fun, they pick up the tab and then I go home.
Maybe they're doing something different.
Or, in LOLCat speak, "Ur doin it rong." ;-)
Somebody should've never told me about LOLCats.
