You're A Mean One

Can someone explain to me why, exactly, it's a bad thing to have "garlic in your soul."

I mean, I get all the other stuff, but maybe the Grinch just had a flair for cooking garlicky dishes. That hardly seems on par with faults like having "termites in your smile," or having a heart that's a "dead tomato splot with moldy purple spots."

I think this is part of the War on Garlic.

Because garlic is gross. As are onions.

Down with Garlic Haters!

Garlic and onions are the reason most foods taste good, particularly cooked meats. Remember the whole thing about the daughter loving her father like salt, basically boiling down to the absence of salt makes food boring. Garlic is next in line, Baby!

So, yes, the lyricist for The Grinch was a wager of war on garlic. How dare he!
