It’s Buy-A-Friend-A-Book Week. I’ve bought a friend a book. For no good reason. If you do, too, then you’re participating in BAFAB week!
It’s that simple.

So by buying a friend a book for "no good reason" are you saying Buy A Friend A Book Week is *not* a good reason to buy a friend a book?
Me confused.

What they probably should have said is "for no particular reason."
Posted by: Patti M. at April 1, 2008 4:15 PMI think it's meant to be funny. "Particular" reason would still be wrong, because BAFAB week is still a particular reason, in a sense.
Better: "Buy a friend a book for no other reason than that it is BAFAB week."
But, come on. There's almost always some other reason. Perhaps to be nice, or because you think they would like the book.
Posted by: James at April 1, 2008 4:44 PMI think really it would be "for no other reason than to be nice and share a good book."
Unless, of course, it's The Good Book, which many--myself included--would not like to receive.
Posted by: Patti M. at April 2, 2008 8:58 AMHeck, I bought my brother a book this week. I remembered a book that I read years ago and thought he might enjoy it now that the topic might be relative to his life. So, I ordered it and had it sent to him. I didn't even know that it was a good week to do that!
