Thrown Clear Of The Accident

have you ever heard someone tell you they don't wear their seatbelt because they're hoping to be "thrown clear of the accident?" Believe it or not, I have.

Here's a story this morning from the Providence Journal:

1 killed, 1 injured in crash on Route 195, Somerset

The woman who died was a passenger. She was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the 2001 Chevrolet Impala.

The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was trapped in the car, extricated by emergency workers and taken to Charlton Hospital and then Rhode Island Hospital with minor injuries, according to the state police.

Wear your seatbelt.

Hoping to be thrown from a car in an accident is perhaps one of the most stupid things I have ever heard.

Where do they think the'll be thrown, onto a big pile of down pillows? Onto a crash mat from junior high gym class? Into the arms of Superman?

Just how dumb is too dumb?

Today must be horrible car crash day. I saw this on the news before I left this morning:

Car collision in Randolph injures one

One person was ejected, perhaps into the firy mess. The other was still in his/her car.

Wear your damned seat belt.
