I give them all an "A" for enthusiasm. Fan-made candidate songs and videos are all over the Internets these days. And some of them will make you wish you lived in a monarchy.
"It's Raining McCain" uses "It's Raining Men" as its template. But it's sufficiently atonal that it will get behind your eyes and make your brain hurt.
On the other side of the political equation, we've got the "The Fresh Prince of Repair." Yes, it's a take on the theme from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. I thought I wouldn't find a video to rival "It's Raining McCain" but quickly changed that opinion after I got a taste of the absolute lack of timing and rhythm within this video.
Try not to let your political leanings sway you. These are both bad videos. But only you can choose one of them to tie in a burlap sack and drop off the side of a bridge.
Posted by James at October 23, 2008 8:19 AMI liked the Fresh Prince video because it starred Obama and not the "performer" himself. And I don't relish the thought of a McCain-rain. So I say throw the dampened tarts into the lake.
Posted by: Julie at October 23, 2008 10:31 AMOh, wow.
Wow.
I almost got all the way through the McCain one. Is that pro or anti McCain? The woman with the see-through clothes, the bobbing McCain head, the god-awful harmony... yikes! Do they think they're helping the man? Plus, is that all they could get? Some woman and her good-looking friend and her mom?
aaaarrrrgggghhhbbbllllpphhht.
The Obama video. Ugh. I kept involuntarily cringing at the rhythm. But, at least it looked like it was somewhat researched and it had a coherent story. I did enjoy seeing pictures of Obama I haven't seen, as Julie says, much better than watching the "performer."
The "raining McCain" story, "God bless John McCain / he's a Vietnam veteran too / He took off to Vietnam / And he did what he had to do." Argh! Pathetic, preschool, childish... followed by something about "angels" that I couldn't make out. Perhaps they'd like to go into some detail about what he "had to do?" He "had to" drop some bombs on some civilians... what a hero.
Anyway, okay, I definitely kill the "raining McCain" video, for childish lyrics, pathetic information content, and utter lack of musical talent and choreography.
Posted by: Maggie at October 23, 2008 10:52 AMI honestly don't know how to vote. They both made my ears bleed. But the McCain one made my eyes bleed, too. At least the visuals on the Obama one were interesting.
Kill "It's raining" and if "Repair" can be hit by friendly fire in the attempt, I promise not to launch an investigation.
Posted by: briwei at October 23, 2008 11:32 AMThese are both absolutely atrocious.
However, the "McCain Girls" committed the sin of screwing with one of my favotire gay anthem disco tunes, so it is they and their awful video who must die!
I loved the Weather Girls (originally known as Two Tons of Fun).
And now I must hear the real song to purge the awful fake song out of my head.
Listen here (and see the awful original video, too): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWwyjmSbJPs
There's something wrong with that video, Patti... those people have musical talent.
I'd never seen it. I appreciate how the McCain video attempts to remain faithful to it. Ugh. "Rain" and "McCain," I really just picture that he needs a stent drained or he's having prostate difficulties, I don't think, "Ooh, yeah, leavin' my umbrella home."
Is that ageism? Oh, I'm a horrible objectifying person, but why even put the poor man in the position of being judged that way?
Yech.
Posted by: Maggie at October 23, 2008 2:06 PMAnyone up for a "My Fair Lady" parody? *sings* McCain's campaign is go-ing down the drain...
Posted by: briwei at October 23, 2008 4:06 PMI like how the McCain Girls are saying that angels are going to rearrange the votes in favor of McCain. Nice! Divine vote tampering.
Posted by: James at October 23, 2008 6:46 PMWell, Palin did say that the election was in God's hands. Hmmmm... I'm going to vote anyway.
Posted by: Julie at October 23, 2008 7:39 PMI will put the world on notice right now:
If someone fiddles with Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" by turning it into some kind of election video, vengeance will be mine. I promise you that.
